PRE MUSIC
Prairie Ridge Elementary Chorus
Choir is open to any 4th or 5th grader who chooses to join. Choir and band are the main avenues of musical performance for our 4th and 5th graders. My goals for choir include rehearsing choral music for fun and for improvement of vocal techniques (including matching pitch, singing with a pleasant tone, singing in harmony, etc.) in a safe and inviting atmosphere.

Included on this page is all of the information (hopefully) that you will need during the school year pertaining to choir. Please read the entire page as important dates and policies are included. If you are someone who wants to improve your singing and you enjoy performing with a group, then choir is what you need.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals for the PRE Choir will be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:30. First the first few weeks your student will only rehearse Tuesday OR Thursday morning based on their placement. Transportation must be provided by the parent.
Rehearsals will be held in the PRE music room. Choir members will be allowed to enter the building at 7:55. Any choir members arriving before will need to stay outside of the building until 7:55. Choir members who eat breakfast at PRE and have Safety Patrol will be dismissed first. I am sorry but younger siblings may not attend choir rehearsal.

Attendance is mandatory at all rehearsals unless you are absent from school. Note that rehearsals begin promptly at 8:00. Excessive tardies and unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the group.

October 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28. 30

Your child will either be assigned to Tuesday or Thursday morning rehearsals for September.
Tuesday Classes: Kremer, Shaffer, Bailie
Thursday Classes: Mendez, Mantel, Maybell

In November, December, part of February, March, and April both parts rehearse together - your student will come to choir both Tuesday and Thursday.

Performances
The Cougar Chorus will perform at PRE once per semester. For every performance we'll share with the school during an assembly and after school at the PRE gym. School-based performance dates are:

Special Concert - Nov 12th
We have been invited to perform at the Kansas City Zoo for their GloWild festival on November 12th at 6:30. More details about when and where to show up for this festival performance will come soon.
What is GloWild? Crafted by 151 artisans using over 34 tons of steel and 89,000 feet of fabric, the displays offer a one-way path filled with photo ops, concessions, and entertainment. Special features this year include access to Sobela Ocean Aquarium on Wednesdays and seasonal-themed lanterns.
Spring Choral Area Concert
This year the choirs from Prairie Ridge Elementary, Clear Creek Elementary, and Monticello Trails Middle School will have a joint concert on April 16th at 6:30 in the Mill Valley High School Gym (it's the only space big enough to hold us all).
Music and T-Shirt Fee
Choir fees are $30.00 for the school year. This fee provides $10 per semester for music plus an additional $10 purchase a choir t-shirt.
If we take a field trip or have an ice skating party, an additional fee will be charged.

Checks should be made payable to Prairie Ridge Elementary. If sending cash please put it in an envelope or attach a post it/note with your student's name so the money is credited to the right person.

We are buying new shirts this year. Shirts from older siblings will not be used this year. If you have issues or questions about this please let me know.
